With the Talisman Bowmen growing apace, it’s great to see such a lively community on our WhatsApp groups. That being said, with many new members, and so many channels in the Talisman community it can be tricky to make sure you’re posting in the right one.
There’s a WhatsApp Guidelines available in the members are of the site but as a quick guide:
- The Announcements Channel is for any and all club announcements for the whole membership’s attention.
- The venue specific channels (Hunts Pond Road, Brookfield, Cams Hill, West Park) are primarily for Field Captains to communicate to archers of any relevant information or details about that venue or day’s shooting. They should not be used for general chats, or general queries.
- The Talisman Tournament Channels (Strawberry Shoot, Sharpshooter etc) likewise are for the Tournament organisers to communicate details of the upcoming tournament and answer tournament-specific questions.
- The Tournaments Channel is a place to post details of upcoming competitions run by other clubs or venues. Again, to make sure that all members have a chance to see items, this channel should not be used to post results or discuss attendance.
- The general Talisman Members channel is your go-to channel for banter, chat, general questions (that aren’t already answered on the website) and posting updates on your competitive exploits outside the club. There’s also the Social channel to get the latest updates on the club’s growing social calendar!
You’re free to join (or not) as many channels as you wish but it is recommended to join the Announcements channel and the channel for your preferred shooting venue(s) as a minimum. There are also dedicated closed groups for Field Captains, The Club Committee and Coaches access to which is by invitation only to relevant members.
In order to make sure the WhatsApp groups work for all members and that important information isn’t accidently drowned out, we’ll be more actively moderating the shooting venue, announcement and tournaments channel to ensure only appropriate content is posted.
