Welcome to a Bumper Edition of Club Record Roundup for June 2026!
The temperature hasn’t been the only thing hitting thirty in June as the competition for Talisman Bowmen records also hit scorching new highs, with thirty records being set this month. There were 16 brand new records, three changed hands and eleven records strengthened. With a few important updates and notices before we get to the good stuff, welcome to a bumper – and undertsandably delayed – Club Record Roundup for June 2026!
News before the New
You’ll notice some terminology changes this month, in line with Archery GB’s updating its competition categories. As of 1 April 2026, the historic “Men’s” and “Women’s” categories have been replaced by the Open and Female categories.
What This Means for Categories & Eligibility
- Female Category: This category is strictly for athletes who are registered female at birth.
- Open Category: This category is inclusive and fully accessible to any archer, regardless of gender identity or sex assigned at birth.
What This Means for Club Records
To ensure historical achievements are preserved while adapting to the new rules, the club record books have been transitioned using the standard national framework:
- Existing Women’s Records: All current club records held in the former Women’s divisions have been automatically renamed and transferred to the new Female category.
- Existing Men’s Records: All current club records held in the former Men’s divisions have been automatically renamed to form the baseline benchmark for the new Open category.
- Claiming New Records: Because historic Men’s scores now act as the baseline for the Open category, the Open records are not blank. To claim an Open record, any eligible archer (including those shooting in the Female category) must explicitly beat that established benchmark score and submit a separate record claim. High scores shot within the Female category will not automatically mirror over into the Open category and no retrospective claims for an Open record by female archers will be accepted for scores achieved before 19 July 2026.
- Age divisions remain the same.
Some Notes & Reminders on Claiming Records & Reporting Scores
- Scores will only be considered for club record purposes if they are reported to the records officer within three calendar months of shooting. Scores submitted after this point will still be recorded for individual handicaps and classifications (assuming the round qualifies) but will not be eligible for club record status.
- Reported scores must include the following:
- Bow Style (especially if you regularly shoot more than one style)
- Date & Location
- If shot at a non-Talisman competition or club shoot, please include details when you submit.
- The score should be signed and witnessed. If the score is not signed and/ or witnessed, it may be ineligible for club records.
- Paper score sheets and Expert Archer are pre-approved for club use. If you use or wish to use any other app or reporting method, please ensure it provides the above details or check with the Records Officer prior to submitting.
- Claims for 252 scores as part of a longer round, while not quite in keeping with the spirit of the 252 scheme, are permitted but must be claimed/ notified at the time of submitting the longer round score. Retrospective 252 claims from past rounds will no longer be accepted.

Congratulations to the archers setting brand new records this month:
- Toby Hayden set a new club record for Barebow Open Warwick 40
- Marianne Damoiseau set new club records for Barebow Female Bristol III and Barebow Female Long Metric III
- Holly Smith set a new club record for Barebow Female U18 National 40
- Lynsey Tucker set new club records for Compound Female National and Compound Female WA 50m (122cm Face)
- Llinos Edgeley set a new club record for Longbow Female 50+ Bristol III
- Greg Lawrence set a new club record for Recurve Open 50+ WA 50m (122cm Face)
- Adrian Smith set a new club record for Recurve Open 50+ WA 70m
Clash Of The Tightens
Tightening their grips on existing records this month:
- Jim Wild strengthened his record for Barebow Open 50+ Metric 122-40
- Lee Guerrier bettered his existing score for Compound Open 50+ National 50
- Lynsey Tucker overtook her scores for both Compound Female National 50 and Compound Female 50+ Long Metric IV
- Debbie Young strengthened her record for Compound Female 50+ National 40
- Llinos Edgeley topped her record for Longbow Female 50+ National 40
- Stuart Chatwin strengthened their record for Recurve Open Metric 122-40
- Luke Halladay boosted his record scores for Recurve Open WA 60m and Recurve Open Western
- And Adrian Smith improved the benchmarks for both Recurve Open 50+ National 30 and Recurve Open 50+ WA 60m
Men (And Women) At Work
Many things come from the land down under, where women glow and men plunder (or chunder, depending on your preference). One of those things is a Geelong round, a popular recreational archery round used widely in Australia. Shot at a single distance of 30 metres and consisting of 90 arrows shot on a 122cm target face using metric scoring (for a maximum score of 900). Introduced to the club on a windy day (which required a shorter distance round), the Geelong makes its debut this month in the club record books (although as a non-AGB round, it cannot count towards classifications or handicaps).

- Matilda Tucker set the very first record score for Barebow Female Geelong
- Lee Guerrier set the very first record score for Compound Open 50+ Geelong
- Debbie Young set the very first record score for Compound Female 50+ Geelong
- Craig Haywood set the very first record score for Recurve Open Geelong, only to lose it 25 days later to Luke Halladay.
- Adrian Smith set the very first record score for Recurve Open 50+ Geelong
- Maria Fox set the very first record score for Recurve Female 50+ Geelong
- Matilda Haywood set the very first record score for Recurve Female U21 Geelong
And speaking of plunder, last but not least, June saw Steven Attrill in piratical mood as he relieved Richard Niemiec of the Recurve Open 50+ Metric 122-40 record and Eddie McBride of the Recurve Open 50+ Long Metric IV club records.
