Our Archery Beginners’ Courses
Talisman Bowmen Beginners’ Courses run in several times a year, for six consecutive Wednesday evenings.
Sessions are two hours long and start at 6 pm.
Location: Training takes place at Hunts Pond Road or one of our indoor venues (see Where We Shoot).
Requirements & Capacity: The minimum age is 10 and courses are strictly limited to six participants.
Cost: The fee is £60 per person, for applications received after 1 May 2026.
Equipment: All bows, arrows, and accessories are provided during the course.
Participants will receive personalised coaching within a small group setting and upon successful completion, a certificate enabling them to join Talisman Bowmen or any other Archery GB Affiliated club.
Following the course, new Talisman members can rent club equipment for up to three months to help them settle in to the sport.
How To Apply
- Read through and complete the Beginners’ Course application form (below).
- By submitting the completed form you will reserve a space on the next available course. Please do not send any money at this stage.
- If the upcoming course is full, you will be added to our waiting list and offered a place on the next available course on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Payment: We will contact you to request the course fee once your place has been officially confirmed.
This course is intended for beginners with no previous archery experience and offers an opportunity to try the sport without any obligation to join the club or the expense of purchasing equipment. Upon successful completion of the course, you would be eligible to become a full member of the Club, where regular shooting and further coaching and practice will help to develop your skills.
Where & When – We run courses at either the Sports Hall at Cams Hill School, on Thursday evenings or outdoors at the Hunts Pond Road Recreation Ground, on Wednesday evenings, depending on the time of year – and the weather! Your venue and timings will be confirmed once you are allocated a space on a course.

Conditions: There is a minimum age of 10 years for participants. A responsible adult must accompany anyone under 18.
