Update 5th July
Following new AGB guidance we can now shoot using 8 lanes with social distancing of 4M in place, we will still be running the timing of the sessions as is with people in the first session setting up and last session clearing away. Please ensure you arrive in time to make the most of your shooting hour, it’s great to be able to offer more opportunities for people to shoot!
Lockdown hair, beards and 252’s!
Thank you to all our members (35) who have re-joined the club, and to those 29 who have started shooting again, if you are yet to re-join and want to please see below for links to the members area. We have had some lovely sessions on the field in this good weather, and the re-marked spots and pandemic safety measures seem to be working well. We have had 20 1-hour sessions so far with 132 slots taken out of the 144 possible, (counting multiple family bookings). We are looking forward to when social distancing is relaxed and AGB can change their rules to allow more than one person to shoot in each lane, and even when we can perhaps have more than 6 lanes. Anyway, this is all headed in the right direction, even if the restrictions are quite severe at present. So a big thank you to everyone who has come along to shoot, and helped set up and take down all the field equipment.
We have had some more “252” successes, and awards have been presented to Lynsey, Alex, and Morgan, and Stephanie, and most recently Llinos – a very handsome barebow 252.
We have 2 more winners – the “lockdown” haircut award goes to Dean, and the “lockdown” beard award to Andy. Congratulations.
We are just waiting until the Sir Joseph Paxton re-opens, and then the Sunday 1100-1200 slot will be booked for ever, or at least as long as we have to have the booking system. We are in touch to book outdoor tables after our Sunday sessions. Update – pub booking successfully made today and quality control of Cloudy Cider is ongoing, suspect it will require further visits to verify.
How to Join
We now need you, please, to rejoin the club, and to indicate if you will shoot outdoors over the Summer, and indoors later.
Please go to the Members’ Area, and find the instructions to re-join and pay.
Please go to the Members’ Area and read the Temporary Rules of Shooting.
Please go to the Members’ Area and read about the Booking System.
We have appealed to AGB HAA and SCAS to consider reductions in affiliation fees for the year 1 October 2020 to 30 Sep 2021. Except for HAA the replies so far are not hugely encouraging, but all their clubs are in the same boat so hopefully common sense will prevail. HAA has halved their affiliation fees.
Please visit Archery GB website and download and read the revised AGB Guidance for Archery
Beginners’ courses, and one to one coaching closer than 2 metres, cannot restart for the time being.
We were obviously not able to hold our AGM on 17 April, but the annual accounts are also on the website, members area. Your committee is remaining in post until a new committee can be elected.
